Islington Assembly Hall is a stunning venue in the heart of the borough on bustling Upper Street. As well as holding music concerts, fairs and other public events, the impressive space is available to hire for a range of corporate, private and community events.
The grade II listed building first opened in 1930 and was extensively refurbished in 2010 by Islington Council. Today, it retains much of its art deco interior and original architectural detail, including its magnificent stage. Modern enhancements include a high-spec PA system with a range of audio-visual equipment.
The main hall holds up to 600 people standing for a concert or up to 230 in a theatre-style layout for seated concerts, conferences and civil ceremonies. The tiered balcony seats a further 200 guests and is used at the majority of concerts held at our impressive venue.
The venue is located next door to Islington Town Hall and is easily accessible by public transport. It is a short walk from Highbury and Islington, Angel and Essex Road stations, and is served by the 4, 19, 30 and 43 bus routes.

Islington Council Arts team, together with Islington Assembly Hall, are running a scheme offering eight Islington-based community organisations the chance to hire the stunning venue for free. The scheme is now open for applications for eligible organisations that are interested in organising an event to take place here between July and September 2016. Four applicants will be chosen to receive free hire of the hall, based on specific criteria. The scheme will reopen in May for applications for events to be held in January to March 2017, after which another four organisations will be awarded the free hire of the hall for their events. Available dates are limited to Mondays to Wednesdays, and other terms and conditions apply.
