Fire safety update for residents of Fyfield and Six Acres Estate

As a result of our ongoing reviews of fire safety, the council has found out some new information about the external wall insulation on the blocks at Fyfield and Six Acres.

What this means for Fyfield residents:

We do not think the external wall insulation meets building regulations for high rise blocks and so we intend to take steps to remove it from Fyfield. We expect to start work in two weeks’ time.

What this means for Six Acres residents:

Because the design and layout of the other blocks on Six Acres is different – particularly because they are less than six storeys high – the insulation and external wall insulation does meet building regulations.

The council will be stepping up fire safety patrols on the estate immediately and is working closely with the Fire Brigade to ensure all residents are kept as safe as possible. We would like to thank residents in advance for bearing with us while we sort things out.

Keeping residents updated

The council has written to all Fyfield and Six Acres residents and is aiming to speak to as many people on the estate directly to answer their queries over the next few days. We have also circulated updated fire safety advice for Fyfield residents which can be downloaded from the link below. Fire safety advice for other Six Acres residents does not change.

I’ve attached the updated fire safety advice.

Residents can email us any concerns at firesafety@islington.gov.uk
