Housing Register

Housing Register

This is a register of all those who have applied for and qualify to be considered for council or housing association properties. Anyone who has been allocated 120 points or more can bid for council and housing association properties using the Home Connections service. Click on the Home Connections link under the main navigation list on the left side of this page, for more information.

To download a copy of the Housing Register Application Form, click on the link at the bottom of this page.

Who It Is For

Anyone with a fixed address can join the council housing list, except those with a secure or assured tenancy and those without ‘indefinite leave to remain in the country’, granted by the Home Office.

How It Works

We will assess your housing application to check that you qualify for the housing register. If you are assessed with over 120 points we will ask you to provide proof of your identity, immigration status and current address.

For more information, click on the Guide to Points link under the main navigation list on the left side of this page.

Once your application has been assessed, you will be allocated a number of points depending on your personal circumstances. If you have more than 120 points you can bid for properties through the Home Connections scheme.

For more information, click on the Home Connections link under the main navigation list on the left side of this page.

If you have less than 120 points, click on the Renting in the Private Sector link under the main navigation list on the left side of this page.

Once you are on the housing register, you must tell us of any changes to your circumstances, and reply to the annual review letter we send you to confirm that you want to stay on the housing register.

The time you wait depends on how many points you are allocated. The more points you have the greater your chances of successfully bidding for a property that suits you. Your choice of areas, the size of property you need and the number of suitable properties available will all affect waiting times.
