Bemerton Children's Centre is one of the nurseries directly managed by the council offering integrated care and education. Children's Centres offer a supportive setting where friendly, experienced, qualified staff, including qualified teachers, work with children and families. In addition they offer children under 5 and their families a range of integrated and inclusive services, including care and education places, health services, family support and outreach, access to training opportunities, advice on tax credits and a base for childminders. Bemerton Children's Centre runs a number of stay and play sessions, parent support groups, baby massage sessions, a Somali Women's Group, a Benagli Group, a Turkish and Kurdish Toddler Group and a number of other drop-in sessions. For young parents there is a peer mentoring training scheme run by Brook (you can download details using the link at the bottom of this page). 80 places are offered on a full or part-time basis, during the "core" day (9.30 am to 3.30 pm) term time only or for 49 weeks a year on an extended day basis 8.00am to 6.00pm to suit working or studying parents. Parents are encouraged to become involved in the life of the centre. Staff speak a number of community languages. To find out what's going on at Bemerton this month, click here >>>.
