These pages tell you about how the the council carries out consultation. They also provide you with information on current and past consultations, and where possible, highlight the results and outcomes.

We actively encourage you to take part in any of our consultation exercises that are of relevance to you. Where appropriate, we will provide you with the facility to take part online.

Consultation, Involvement and Engagement Strategy

The council has updated its consultation, involvement and engagement strategy. This document (available for downloading at the bottom of this page) sets out the approach the council will take to consulting, involving and engaging with residents, businesses, local groups and organisations and other stakeholders. At its heart is a set of 18 principles that the council aims to achieve when it seeks the views and involvement of local people.

Our Consultation Team

The consultation team is responsible for co-ordinating and supporting consultation and research in the council. This involves:

• carrying out corporate research for the council (including the citizens panel, measuring customer perceptions projects, and other corporate consultation projects such as the democracy referendum and budget consultation)
• advising and supporting other departments on consultation
• commissioning research and consultation for the council
• consulting and involving children and young people including the Listen Up project
