Islington Time Bank

Islington Time Bank

Woman gardening

A time bank lets you help others by exchanging your time rather than money.

The way it works is that each time bank member can 'deposit' the time that he or she spends in helping others and can then 'withdraw' the same amount of time when they need someone to do something for them.

So, for example, you could spend an hour gardening and get an hour's worth of signing lessons in return.

Some recent exchanges have included decorating and Tai Chi sessions through to English conversation practice and help with cooking and events.

There are seven time banks in Islington with more on the way.
