Islington Council

On the big day you should arrive at least 15 minutes before your ceremony appointment. The registrar will then interview you both, separately from your guests, before the ceremony begins. The registrar will verify the details that appear on the marriage authorities or civil partnership schedule and on any subsequent certificates produced.

If not already taken at the time of giving notice, the registrar will ask you for the full names and occupations of both your natural or adoptive fathers. Once these preliminaries have been completed the ceremony can begin with the guests being invited in to join you, as in Room 99, or perhaps walking in together or with the bride on the arm of her father as you may choose to do in the Council Chamber.
