Safer Islington Partnership

The Safer Islington Partnership is responsible for improving community safety and reducing crime across the borough. The Partnership was set up as a result of The Crime and Disorder Act (1998), which introduced local partnerships to address issues of crime and disorder. The primary responsibility is to produce and deliver a crime reduction strategy specifically for Islington.

The Parnership aims to create a stronger, safer communities by:

  • Reducing crime and disorder

  • Tackling anti-social behaviour

  • Tackling problems caused by substance misuse

  • Ensuring people feel safe and have confidence in the criminal justice system

Membership of SIP includes representatives from the statutory and voluntary and community sectors including:

  • The police

  • Islington council

  • Islington Primary Care Trust

  • The London Fire Brigade

  • The Probation Services

  • The voluntary and community sector

  • The business sector

SIP has responsibility for delivering and monitoring a range of indicators that fall within the Safer and Stronger Communities block of Islington's LAA
