The Safer Islington Partnership is responsible for improving community safety
and reducing crime across the borough. The Partnership was set up as a result
of The Crime and Disorder Act (1998), which introduced local partnerships to
address issues of crime and disorder. The primary responsibility is to produce
and deliver a crime reduction strategy specifically for Islington.

Tackling anti-social behaviour
Tackling problems caused by substance misuse
Ensuring people feel safe and have confidence in the criminal justice system
Membership of SIP includes representatives from the statutory and voluntary and community sectors including:
The police
Islington council
Islington Primary Care Trust
The London Fire Brigade
The Probation Services
The voluntary and community sector
The business sector
SIP has responsibility for delivering and monitoring a range of indicators
that fall within the Safer and Stronger Communities block of Islington's LAA
