Copies of Certificates

You can get copies of certificates for births, deaths and marriages registered in Islington or London City (after the year 1908) by calling at the Register Office:

Fees

• full certificate of birth, death or marriage: £7
• short (abbreviated) certificate of birth: £5.50
• if you want the certificate posted out to you it will cost an extra £1

Opening Hours

• Monday to Friday: 9.30am - 4pm
• Saturday: By appointment only.
• The service closes at 1pm on the first Thursday of each month.

You can also write to us at the above address enclosing a stamped addressed envelope. Payment by post can only be accepted with a postal order, as we no longer accept cheques. Please note that if you don't include a stamped addressed envelope that you must add an extra £1 to the postal order. So a full (standard) birth certificate is £8.00 and a short (abbreviated) certificate is £6.50. Please make the postal order payable to London Borough of Islington.
