Mayor's Civic Award and the Ben Kinsella Award

Find out how to nominate someone in Islington who cares about their local community and makes a positive and selfless contribution to the lives of others.

Every day across Islington, people who care about their local community make positive and selfless contributions to the lives of others.

Islington’s unsung heroes are all over the borough, whether volunteering at food banks, checking in on their elderly neighbours, supporting young people in crisis or raising awareness of racial inequality.

The Mayor’s Civic Award and the Ben Kinsella Award recognise people who have made an outstanding voluntary contribution to life in Islington.

How to nominate someone 

Nominations have now closed.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit a nomination. We will be in touch with the successful nominators and nominees soon.

What happens next

The awards panel will review only eligible nominations. We will invite all shortlisted nominees to an awards evening on 23 March 2026.

We will present winners with an award and a voucher to spend at one of Islington's local businesses.
