Islington currently has 45 primary schools, eight secondary schools, three special schools and five Pupil Referral Units. Many of these schools provide nursery education alongside the specialist children’s centres and nursery schools in the borough. The borough is also home to two academies.
All schools are managed by Cambridge Education @ Islington, under contract to the council. Services delivered on behalf of the council include provision of advice, support, literacy and numeracy development, support and training for school governors and assessment of special educational needs, as well as management of grants, budgets and HR.
