Islington Trader Scheme

Welcome to the web pages of the Islington Trader Scheme (ITS).

The idea of the scheme is to highlight local shops that are committed to fair trading principles and good standards of customer care. Consumers can identify a member shop by looking for the scheme’s distinctive red bag image. A list of members can also be found by clicking on the ITS members link on the left.

Before being allowed to join ITS, retailers are vetted by the council’s trading standards team to ensure they have sufficient knowledge of consumer rights law. They must also satisfy officers that they are striving to comply with a range of trading standards laws covering areas such as safety of goods, descriptions and price marking.

ITS was launched at the N1 Shopping Centre early in 2007 and it is hoped that it will go on to be rolled out across the rest of Islington in all the main shopping areas.
