When we award contracts we set some special conditions. Some of these are listed below:
If we accept a tender with a value of £500,000 or more, the contractor must guarantee their ability to meet their responsibilities under the contract. This guarantee can be in the form of a performance bond, a cash deposit or a guarantee from a parent company. The guarantee must be equal to:
at least 10% of the value of contracts for providing works
up to 15% of the yearly value of contracts for providing services
at least 10% of the yearly value of goods to be provided.
When we award contracts we must follow relevant laws and our policies on equal opportunities. Equal opportunities not only involves making sure contractors are appointed fairly, but also that the services are provided in a fair way and that the contractors treat their staff fairly.
