Trading Standards occasionally receive reports of rogue tree surgeons touting for business in Islington. These businesses generally cannot be spotted as they will call on residents without warning and will have little paperwork to properly identify them – for example with no trading address stated on the business's leaflet and a website that does not exist or to explain consumers’ cancellation rights. It is a legal requirement to give a notice about cancellation rights.
If a rogue business does work for you and there is a problem with the standard of the work, you might have no way of finding the trader again or you may be liable for any criminal acts they do.
Parts of Islington are designated conservation areas, this doesn’t bother the scammers and yesterday they were misleading residents by claiming they could start work immediately. Residents who believed them could find that they have inadvertently broken the law themselves.
We strongly advise not to do business with this company. We would also urge residents to be mindful of any neighbours who may be intimidated into getting work done.
