The council’s management team is led by the Chief Executive, Lesley Seary.
Reporting to her are five Corporate Directors who lead the council’s core Directorates:
Children's Services
Services include children’s social care and family support services; fostering and adoption; play and youth services; schools support and admissions; children’s centres and early years services; the Family Information Service; plus supporting work with children, young people and families in Islington through strategy and commissioning.
Corporate Resources
Services include legal and HR, communications and technology; democratic services – which manages elections and council democracy; births, marriages, deaths and citizenship ceremonies; community safety and customer services, including Contact Islington.
Environment and Regeneration
Services include parking; keeping our roads and streets clean and safe; waste and recycling services; managing our parks, green spaces and leisure services; planning and development – including planning, transport planning, development management and building control; and managing our libraries and museum, cemeteries, energy and energy advice services, plus managing residential and commercial environmental health, licensing, trading standards, animal welfare, pollution and noise.
Finance
The finance directorate manage money coming in to and out from the council, including processing, payment, revenues, customer service, accounting, financial planning, pensions, service finance, procurement, internal audit, property services, accommodation and facilities.
HASS
This directorate runs all council-owned homes in Islington, allocates council housing and runs the Housing Aid Centre which prevents residents being made homeless. It also commissions and manages adult social care services such as residential homes, day centres and other support services aimed at helping elderly and disabled adults live as independently as possible.
