Hire Car Permits

If you hire vehicles on a regular basis you might like to make use of our hire car permit and vouchers. Vouchers for hire cars can be used to cover a full day, unlike visitor vouchers which can only be used for up to six hours.

The permit costs £10 annually to buy and you can also purchase up to 300 hours worth of parking vouchers per year.

Vouchers cost:

• £4 for a book of 20 x 30 minute
• £12 for a book of 10 x 3 hours

Alternatively you could purchase a one month resident permit , and you will need to supply the following:

Address (one of)

• Council tax bill for the current tax year
• Current gas, water, electricity or landline telephone bill (from the last 3 months)
• Driving licence (use this for address and age)
• Tenancy agreement
• Department for Work and Pensions letter (dated within the last 6 months)

Vehicle

• Hire/Lease agreement

Please note:

• You cannot purchase a hire car permit if you already have a resident permit for any vehicle you own
• You will need to display your permit along with your hire car vouchers, on the windscreen inside your vehicle, where they can be easily seen by our civil enforcement officers.

Please note residents in permit free developments are not entitled to purchase hire car permits and vouchers.

Street Car Scheme

Street cars are pay-as-you-go cars parked on over 1,000 streets across London and the south east. They can be booked for any duration up to six months and are accessible 24/7 by a smartcard or smart phone.

Each Street Car based in Islington has an an all zone resident permit in it and can be parked in any resident bay in the borough.

This scheme may be a useful alternative to regularly hiring cars. More information can be found on the Street Car website.
