If you are a general practitioner (GP) with a surgery in Islington, you may apply for a doctors parking bay and permit.
You need to have a doctors' bay before you can apply for a permit. If a surgery already has a bay you may apply for a permit by calling 020 7527 6126. A permit may have more than one vehicle on it to enable a surgery to provide emergency cover on a rota basis. Doctors permits cannot be used for commuter parking.
The annual fee for an existing doctors bay is £210, permits are issued free of charge
Surgeries without a doctors bay can apply for one by contacting us directly on 020 7527 1358. Doctors bays are only intended to facilitate essential vehicle use relating to health care emergencies.
We usually only allocate one bay for each practice but permits to use them can have more than one vehicle on them.
Bays will be allocated following a review of parking availability in the area and after taking into consideration other factors such as if applicants already hold resident permits.
There is a charge of £2,200 to consult on, design, and put a doctors bay in place.
If your application is successful, installation can regrettably be a lengthy process. This is because as we are required to consult local people first and then need to complete a number of legal documents before the bay can be put in place.
