If you want to know about disabled parking bays please see our disabled parking bays page.
The European Blue Badge disabled parking scheme is fully recognised in Islington.
Blue badges are issued by the local authority where you live. If you are an Islington resident, you can download a blue badge application form and guidance notes at the bottom of this page.
Please ensure that your badge is clearly displayed with all information clearly visible.
Please also note that blue badge concessions may vary in other local authorities, so please check if you are visiting another borough.
If you would like to apply for a blue badge for your own use please print off the form below, fill it in and return it to us at:
Blue Badge Team, PO Box 46106, London EC1B 1BR.
The attached guidance notes provide information on how to complete your application.
If you are not sure if you will qualify for a blue badge please read the Department for Transport booklet 'Can I Get A Blue Badge'.
Unfortunately the blue badge scheme is prone to misuse and theft of blue badges is a very serious problem across London. If you wish to report suspected blue badge fraud, please call us on 020 7527 2000 or by email at: parkingfraud@islington.gov.uk.
Police officers, civil enforcement officers and council fraud investigators patrol Islington’s streets to tackle blue badge fraud, which denies disabled people a place to park. Islington Council prosecutes blue badge cheats under the Fraud Act which can result in imprisonment and substantial fines.
To deter theft we can provide a blue badge protector which is a special lockable case that can be attached to your steering wheel making it very difficult for thieves to remove. The protectors cost £16 and can be purchased by calling 020 7527 6123.
Follow the link on the right to the manufacturer's website, where there are details available about other related products.
As a measure to deter theft we can issue all blue badge holders with free resident permits. This free permit can be displayed in your vehicle when it is parked in your home controlled parking zone and saves the necessity of using your blue badge. This also saves the hassle of removing your badge in the evening when they are most susceptible to theft.
Users should be aware that the free resident permit only allows parking in resident or shared use bays. It does not permit drivers to park on yellow lines, or in pay and display bays, dedicated disabled bays or doctors’ bays.
For more information please call us on 020 7527 2000.
