Online Parking Services

Common Sense Parking in Islington

There are more cars than parking spaces on our roads and every council has to try and tackle the problems that this causes.

Islington, like many other London borough, is made up of areas where parking is prioritised for residents and local businesses called controlled parking zones (CPZs).

CPZs reduce commuter parking to help local residents and their visitors park near their homes. Spaces are allocated for business parking and there are over 3,000 pay and display parking spaces for short-term parking.

We maintain and enforce Islington's CPZs and deliver services in line with the council’s key parking objectives:

• ensure our roads are safe
• enable traffic to flow freely
• give residents and local businesses priority over commuters
• provide parking for disabled people and health care workers
• ensure that the parking rules are enforced using common sense

In addition to keeping Islington moving, the revenue generated from all parking charges is spent on road safety schemes, road safety training in schools and concessionary fares, such as the freedom pass and the London taxi-card scheme, which benefit elderly and disabled residents.

You can call Contact Islington for all parking enquiries, Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm on 020 7527 2000. You can also call this number to make permit enquiries and query or pay a penalty charge notice.

If you would like to appeal a parking ticket please follow the instructions on the How to Appeal a Parking Ticket page using the link in the left-hand menu. Appeals not made in this way could result in delays that mean your ticket will escalate.

Parking Advocate

The role of the parking advocate is to consult with residents, businesses and borough users about parking policy in Islington.
