Public Transport

Public Transport

Public transport is both an excellent way to get to Islington, and to travel around the borough once you get here.

The borough has extensive transport links, to the city, west end, and other areas of London.

With many bus lanes, tube stations and train stations, it is also one of the most convenient and environmentally friendly ways to move around the borough.

A new station will be built at Farringdon for Thameslink and Crossrail. This will provide frequent and direct train services to Heathrow, Luton and Gatwick airports, as well as other major London stations such as Paddington and Liverpool Street Station (which has direct links to Stansted Airport).

King’s Cross and St Pancras train and tube stations are half a mile from the heart of Islington, (in the borough of Camden), which also has direct connections to Gatwick and Luton airports. The station also serves as a gateway to the north of England, Scotland and other major London stations.

Highbury and Islington Station also has direct links to Stratford, where the 2012 Olympics will take place. Furthermore, the East London Line will be extended to Highbury & Islington station by 2011.
