Transport Emission Reduction Grant

Transport Emission Reduction Grant

The Transport Emission Reduction Grant Scheme is for innovative projects to reduce transport related CO2 emissions. The opportunity to do this project came from Islington’s Climate Change Fund and will help to reduce emissions across the borough.

Who can apply? Any small business, not for profit organisation or charity is eligible to apply.

What can I apply for? We are looking for innovative projects that will reduce emissions and/or change staff travel behaviours. This could include:

  • reducing the need to travel and reducing trip lengths
  • reducing the frequencies of servicing and delivery
  • encouraging behavioural shift
  • encouraging less polluting driving styles
  • enabling alternative fuels
  • demonstrating whole lifecycle approaches to vehicle choices
  • encouraging the use of smaller vehicles
  • changing vehicle type
  • converting current vehicles

Why should I apply? This grant scheme is an opportunity to save fuel costs, reduce staff sickness and improve retention, and gain environmental credibility.

How much can I apply for? Grants are available for up to £10,000. They should be match-funded from 25 – 75% but allowances will be made for not-for-profit or charity organisations.

What will be expected of me?

  • You will need to be able to demonstrate the success of the project through a reduction in CO2.
  • You will also need to forecast the reductions before the project and give evidence of these changes at the end of the year.
  • You must be willing to share these experiences with other organisations.
  • You will need to join Islington’s Deliver project or the Climate Change Partnership.

How do I apply? Download the application form at the bottom of this page.  Return it to transportplanning@islington.gov.uk. If you are successful you will have until August 2008 to claim the money and get the project underway.

The closing date for all applications is 15 December 2008
