Islington Council has won £600,000 to spend on improving walking and cycling facilities in the borough.

Thanks to everyone who voted for Sustrans' Connect2 and for your help in winning the £50 million prize in The People’s £50 Million Lottery Giveaway, the largest ever publicly-decided award.

Background

The Islington Walking and Cycling Routes is one of 79 schemes UK-wide in the Connect2 project, which aims to encourage people to travel in ways that benefit their health and the environment, as well as creating a sense of community pride. For more information about the Connect2 project, click on the link on the right under Useful Websites.

In Islington, this represents a great opportunity for the local people of Highbury, Caledonian, Holloway and Finsbury Park including children, students and the many thousands of visitors to the new Arsenal Stadium.
