Streetcar

A car club is a membership scheme that gives you 24-hour, seven-day a week convenient access to a car in your neighbourhood, without the hassle and expense of car ownership or traditional car hire. Car clubs also reduce pressures on parking and traffic congestion, and help to improve air quality in Islington.

Streetcar offers self-service cars for rent by the hour, day, week or month. The cars are parked in dedicated on-street car club parking bays across Islington. The cars can be booked for as little as 30 minutes or 6 months. They are reserved online or by the phone and can be collected and returned 24/7 using a high-tech smartcard and a PIN number. Usage charges are based on how long you have the car and how far you drive.

Joining Streetcar offers the following benefits:

• A £50 annual membership fee
• no insurance deposit
• a daily charge of £35 for a weekday
• comparable usage rates, including 30 miles free each day or part of a day
• a user-friendly booking system

Streetcar runs mostly VW Golfs, with a selection of manual and automatic cars. They are also adding the low emission VW Blueline into their Islington fleet.
