The National Standard for cycling has replaced what was commonly known as the Cycling Proficiency. With the support of the Department for Transport, it has been developed to ensure consistency in national cycle training. In line with the National Standard, the council’s cycle trainers offer courses to both adults and children at 3 different levels.
The National Standard enables us to assess the appropriate level at which people enter the programme and also effectively measure their development throughout the course. We aim to empower trainees of all abilities to improve their cycling skills and to feel safe and confident on the road.
