Tables and Chairs and A Boards - Licensing

We need to license tables and chairs and advertising boards (A boards) on our pavements in order to balance the needs of businesses with the practical needs of pedestrians. Our pavements should be clear of obstructions so that everyone can move about safely.

How do I apply for a licence?

If you are applying for a tables and chairs licence please complete the Tables and Chairs and A Board Licence Application, if you do not require an A Board please tick the box on page 12 of this application.

If you only require an A Board licence please complete the A Board Licence Application.

Please note an application for a licence will take approximately four weeks to process. We are obliged by legislation to consult interested parties and give members of the public and other council officers the opportunity to comment.

Licence fees

The administration fee for a licence is £375.00 Then depending on which band your street falls within, the cost per seat will range from £18 to £65.
