Archway Tower

Located to the north of Islington, Archway has much to offer visitors and locals alike. The very spot where Dick Whittington was drawn back to the city by the bells of London, Archway is now a lively and diverse shopping centre. A commemorative stone marks the point of the three time Lord Mayor’s famous decision.

A wide range of independent retail outlets are complimented by a few more well known high street shops and offer everything you could possibly need. On Thursdays and Saturdays, Archway is home to a small yet delightful market.

Statue of Dick Whittington's catWith some remarkable architecture, Archway is much more than a shopping destination. Why not take a stroll through the Whitehall Park Conservation Area and see the many attractive houses. Entrances of houses in Cressida and Parolles Roads have a surprising variety of flowers and animals carved into the stonework. Visit St John’s Church and you will see an excellent example of the architecture of Charles Barry – who was also the architect of the Houses of Parliament.

Archway also boasts a fine range of bars, pubs and restaurants including St John’s Gastropub, which is reputed to be a favourite of George Michael when he is in the area.
