ProActive Islington Sports and Cycling Festival

The fifth annual ProActive Islington Sports and Cycling Festival took place on Saturday 19 June 2010 around the Arsenal Emirates Stadium. Over 12,000 people of all ages took part. In a survey of 750 participants 99% rated the festival as good or better.

This free event seeks to inspire Islington residents to live a more active and healthy life.

As ever, it was a fun-packed day of inspirational sports and cycling activities for the whole family.

The festival celebrated the World Cup in style by hosting a World Cup Zone with activities for all the family as well as penalty shoot outs by Arsenal in the Community, Panna competitions, football freestylers and World cup football tables.

Other highlights of the festival included a Cycling Zone with Dr Bike, safety advice and BMX try-outs as well as a Health and Dance Zone with tons of healthy living tips, massages and an entertaining dance stage showing off the best of local talent.

The interactive Sports Zone had over 20 sports to try such as volleyball, hockey, boccia, netball and cricket. Other activities included rock climbing, parkour and breakdance.

For the under 5s there were bouncy castles, garden games and interactive play.
