Help your child to get ahead with their homework

Our free homework clubs help with:

  • study tips
  • books and computers to use
  • reading

How our homework clubs can help you to help your child

The services we offer are:

Homework Help
Your local library runs a free drop-in homework club during term-time, with specially trained staff on hand to help your child with their studies.

Help with Reading
We’ll set aside time to listen to your child reading as we know this encourages them to enjoy books and improve their skills. You can bring in your own book or choose one of ours.

Parent Workshops
Once a term, we run a mini-workshop for parents to give you:

  • homework tips
  • advice on homework help websites
  • information on the National Curriculum
  • practical advice on improving your child’s reading

How to use the homework clubs

Homework clubs only run during term time.

You can drop in without booking – but best to get there early as our reading sessions may be timed and availability is limited.

Children under eight must be accompanied by a parent or carer and all children under 16 will need parental permission to use the internet.

Help with computer skills

The Islington Computer Skills Centre also runs a drop-in Saturday Computer Club at the Finsbury Library for children aged 16 and under in the EC1 area. This offers free use of computers, internet research, word processing, printing, help with the online library catalogue and advice from staff on any subject from maths to music.

Opening hours: Every saturday including school holidays 2-4.30pm
Finsbury Library, 245 St. John Street, EC1V 4NB
