Islington is a multi-racial community and this is reflected by the stock in our libraries.

We can also refer you to local groups, facilities and services. Much of this information is available in community languages. There is an increasing amount of information for refugees some of which is translated into Eritrean, Somali, Tigrean, Vietnamese and French (for people from Zaire).
There is a translation and interpreting service provided centrally by the Library Services to Racial Groups. Translations are provided for most of the leaflets, posters and forms produced by the Library and Information Service. Interpreting, if required, can be arranged for most of the community languages, e.g. Bengali, Turkish, Greek, Hindi, Amharic, Urdu and Sylheti.
The Library Service also works closely with local community organisations. Collections of books, DVDs and music CDs are taken to some groups, particularly those for older people. Multicultural events are organised, some in conjunction with local groups.
