Music

We offer a wide variety of music to suit all tastes, from classical to rap, including a large selection of rock and pop releases and music from across the world. There are charges on music items but you may be entitled to concessions. Please contact your local library for details.

All libraries have music on CD. Some libraries also have specialised collections.

At Central there is:

• in-depth coverage of classical music by composers whose surnames lie between GM-KH, on CD
  
  

At Finsbury there is:

• in-depth coverage of jazz by composers whose surnames lie between SHB-SM, on vinyl
• a special collection on obsolete instruments covering the Medieval period 1200-1600, on vinyl
• a small collection of printed music
  
  

At Mildmay there is:

• a special collection of Turkish and Kurdish music

 

Music Styles

All our libraries exhibit changing focus collections, exploring a wide variety of music styles. The nine diverse collections offer a range of styles and genres to be explored and enjoyed. The collections circulate around islington's libraries every four months. The current collections are:

Film

All libraries offer a wide choice of titles on DVD, which include:

• cinema classics
• world cinema
• animation
• children's cartoons
• TV series
• educational films
  

 

Film membership is open to those over 18 who have a library card. There are charges on borrowing DVD items, with no concessions.
