The First Steps Learning Centre is situated in the Central Library, just off the Holloway Road.   The centre offers a wide range of free courses including computers, english for speakers of other languages, literacy and personal development and employability.

If you decide to do a course with us you will have access to high quality information, advice, guidance and support to assist you to progress into further education, training, employment or voluntary work.

All courses are free and are offered to Islington residents or parents with children in Islington schools. Our courses are aimed at people who are aged 19 years or over, unemployed or low waged and receiving benefits. Please talk to the centre staff for further details about who the courses are for. Need some help and advice about what is on offer and which course is right for you? Book yourself in for a free, confidential and impartial advice session with a member of staff. Most interviews take place in the centre but we have a private space available if required.
