If you are a council or housing association tenant and you want to move, you can apply for a transfer to another property.
You can do this simply by registering your details with your landlord (council or housing association). You can pick up an application form to apply to the transfer list from your local housing office.
Your application will be assessed and you will be awarded points according to your current situation.
Your chances will depend on how many points you have and what type of property you are prepared to accept.
If you have missed rent payments, you will not be eligible for a transfer unless there are exceptional circumstances and this is agreed with the area housing office or your housing association first. Usually you will have to make an arrangement with your area housing office to pay some of what you owe and you will have to keep to this agreement for at least six months.
If you need help to fill in the application form, please call in to your local housing office or call the Homes for Islington (HFI) Transfer team. Please let HFI know if you have an impairment on the application form as this may affect your priority for housing. Please also let HFI know about your access and communication needs so we can provide an appropriate service and communicate with you in your preferred format.
