Sheltered Housing

Sheltered Housing

Sheltered housing schemes are properties especially designed for older people to live in. The schemes are made up of individual self -contained tenancies, and most have communal areas for tenants to socialise in. There is also a 24-hour emergency on-call system and a scheme manager.

Who Can Use It

Applicants must be aged 55 years or over, and have some support needs.

How It Works

Sheltered schemes are owned and run by housing associations. Most schemes in Islington are managed by Circle Anglia Housing Association. Applicants interested in sheltered housing must apply to the council’s housing register. They will then receive a visit from an assessment officer who will decide if sheltered housing is suitable. The sheltered schemes in Islington include:

  • Ash Court, N19
  • Belmore House , N7
  • Brightwell Court, N7
  • Hawberry Court, N7
  • Cope House, EC1
  • Foxham Rd, N19
  • Beversbrook Road, N19
  • Washington Court
  • Emmanuel Court, N7
  • Minerva Lodge, N7
  • Duval House, N19

If You Are Disabled

Please tell us your access and communication needs so we can provide an appropriate service and communicate with you in your preferred format. Many of the schemes have accommodation suitable for wheelchair users, or those with mobility difficulties.

Other Languages

Please tell us if you require an interpreter, and we will arrange for one when we visit.
