This is for council tenants who want to retire and who want to consider the private sector along with other retirement options. It gives you a wider choice about where and when you want to move for your retirement. It is run by Girlings Retirement Options who are a private company specialising in retirement homes. Property is available in many parts of the country including the London area.
Anyone aged over 55 who is currently a tenant of Islington Council, or a Housing Association, and is thinking about moving to a retirement property to consider renting in the private sector.
In most cases Girlings offer assured tenancies. These give you security (as long as you keep to your part of the tenancy agreement) and you need only give three months’ notice if you want to leave.
For homeowners that wish to buy a retirement home in Islington, or in another borough, you can find useful information on the Homewise, Housing care and Retirement Plus websites.
