If you want to live in another area in the United Kingdom you are now able to apply for housing there directly. You first need to find out which local authority your area of choice comes under, and then request a housing application form from them.
You can maximise your chances of moving by choosing areas where there is less demand for social housing. However, many councils have long waiting lists of their own, as there is a shortage of social housing across the country.
If you want to move anywhere within the South East of England it is unlikely you will be successful, unless you are aged over 60 and are looking for a studio flat or sheltered housing.
