If you intend having work carried out to your gas appliances, first check to see if the contractors are CORGI registered and ask to see their CORGI Identification Card. This will list the areas of work the holder is capable of carrying out and holds certificates in.
CORGI is the Council for Registered Gas Installers and is the association given the responsibility by the health and safety authorities to maintain a register of competent gas installers in Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man. It is a legal requirement for installation businesses that carry out gas work to be registered with CORGI.
If you are concerned about gas safety in your property you should get in touch with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) by calling their free Gas Safety Advice Line given below.
Our Residential Environmental Health Service can also deal with certain gas safety issues in private housing. You can contact them using the details at the bottom of this page.
