Energy Team

Energy Team

Islington Council’s Green Living Team operates the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre.

The centre provides free, impartial and independent advice on energy saving to householders and small businesses. Individual callers can receive immediate, practical and independent advice on a broad range of issues relating to energy use in home and buildings. The Green Living Team is also open to the public during the day to offer similar advice in person.

Areas covered include:

  • insulation improvements
  • efficient heating systems
  • low energy lighting
  • renewable energy technologies
  • local and national grants and discount schemes
  • understanding bills

We can also provide talks and presentations on energy saving for local tenants and residents associations, and for community organisations.

The Energy Saving Trust Advice Team is part of a national network providing advice on energy saving across the country. In addition to face-to-face and telephone advice, residents can complete a tailor-made energy saving report online at the Energy Saving Trust website.

Safe and Warm

Run in partnership with the Residential Environmental Health Team, Safe and Warm provides heating, insulation and security measures to owner occupiers and private tenants who are over 70, in receipt of qualifying benefit, or disabled.

Grants are available for:

  • gas central heating (If your home does not already have it)
  • replacing old, inefficient boilers
  • heating controls
