Making a Claim

How do I make a claim?

If you claim Pension Credits the Pensions Service may give you a form for you to claim Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. Fill in the form and send it back to us straight away so that we can work out your benefit.

If you claim Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance or Incapacity Benefit you will be asked about Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit when you make your telephone claim with the Jobcentre Plus office. They will also ask you to supply evidence in support of that claim that may be used for your Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit claim. We will only receive the details of your claim when you have provided evidence to Jobcentre Plus. When we receive your claim we may ask you to provide evidence you have not needed to supply so far, such as details of the rent you pay.

If you are not given a form or not claiming other benefits you can claim by filling in one of our claim forms, and giving us the proof we need to assess your claim. You can obtain a claim form by telephoning 020 7527 4990 or by collecting one from an Area Housing Office whose address is shown below. We can also arrange an appointment for you to see a Benefit Advisor who can assist you in making a claim and help process your claim faster as all your information will be captured electronically. Your claim is registered from the day you contact us to make the appointment. Please telephone 020 7527 4990 and an appointment will be made for you.
