Learning Disabilities

Learning Disabilities

Islington Learning Disabilities Partnership (ILDP) provides support, advice and services for adults with learning disabilities in Islington. Staff are from Islington Adult Social Services and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (previously known as Camden and Islington Mental Health and Social Care Trust).

About the Team

The team helps if a person:

  • has a learning disability and lives in Islington
  • is aged 16 years and over for services from the Community Healthcare Team
  • is 18 years or over for services from Social Services

The term "learning disability" used to be known as "mental handicap". It does not refer to people with a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia. For more information see our leaflets, which are available for downloading at the bottom of this page.

Making a Referral

Anyone can make a referral to the Islington Learning Disability Partnership. This can be done by phone, letter or calling in at the office to see the Duty Social Worker.
