Disabled Children's Outreach

About the Team

This team works with children and young people aged 0-18 years who live in Islington. They work with a wide range of disabilities including

  • Autism
  • Aspergers Syndrome
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Downs Syndrome
  • Tuberous Sclerosis
  • Rett Syndrome
  • Deafness
  • Deafness/blindness
  • Global Developmental Delay
  • Other permanent and substantial disabilities

The team works with parents/carers of children and young people with disabilities to increase awareness, create routes and improve general parenting skills or techniques.

They act as facilitators for children/young people to access and actively participate in local activities, and to assist them in becoming a valued member of their community.

In consultation with parents/carers and education the team supports children/young people who use communication aids or plans to increase their vocabulary to include recreational content and build on the choices available to them.
