Ages You Can Care For

We in Islington need foster carers to look after our children of all ages through to teenagers.

We need foster carers who can look after brothers and sisters in their homes. Also, there are children with possible physical and/or mental special needs, who need specialist care due to a medical condition or disability.

Some older children will require supervision during the school day until a school place is found for them, so you would need to have some flexibility in your working hours or have someone who can help you.

For children placed short term, you would need to bring them to their school in Islington and to also help them keep in contact with their families.

However for permanent fostering, you could be living further away and be able to settle a child into your local school. There are usually some contact requirements for children placed long term with their birth family members. Some children may need to remain looked after until they are 18.
