Islington Foster Carers' Association

Islington Foster Carers' Association

Islington Foster Carer's Association (IFCA), has been established for over 20 years, and they are a voluntary group run by Islington foster carers for Islington foster carers. Once approved, you will automatically become a member of IFCA and an existing member will contact you to welcome you to Islington and our organisation.

IFCA is independent of Islington Fostering Service, but works very closely with them and plays a key role in ensuring foster carers feedback and opinions are voiced and that news and new government regulations are communicated and discussed.

They provide one to one support for carers by arranging sessions to meet and talk about experiences and exchange advice. New members find this particularly useful, as they get the opportunity to hear about situations other carers have already experienced and to discover ‘tried and tested’ ways of resolving them.

They arrange a general meeting every year, have their own meeting rooms, supervised playroom and support phone line. They also arrange subsidised trips to the theatre and pantomimes for groups of their children, foster children and members. Older children benefit from arranged activities and day trips. They regularly attend community social events and activities and always need volunteers to help.
