Champion Our Children
National Adoption Week is 10-16 November, where adoption agencies around the country work collectively to raise awareness of the thousands of children nationwide who need a new family life through adoption.
If you want to know more about adoption, Islington's Adoption team are working together with four other north London boroughs - Camden, Enfield, Barnet and Haringey - to host a special information session at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre from 6pm to 9pm on Thursday 13 November.
You can hear first-hand about a variety of issues surrounding adoption, such as how the adoption process works, what kind of financial support is available and why children need adopting.
There will be a panel discussion at 7pm with adoptive parents and social work professionals, all designed to help you decide if adoption is right for you. You can have one-to-one sessions with a member of the adoption team or an adopter between 6pm-7pm or 8.30pm-9pm.
We are looking for prospective adopters from all parts of the community, including those people who may think they wouldn't be considered. Adopters can be single people or couples, live in or out of Islington/ North London and may or may not have their own birth children. They can be over 40, lesbians or gay men.
For more information, call 0800 073 3344 or 0207 527 4400, or visit the North London Adoption Consortium website by clicking the link under Useful Websites, on the right.
