Be Warm Be Well

Be Warm Be Well

Welcome to Islington Council’s online 'Be Warm Be Well' winter guide for older people.

Each year during the winter months, thousands of older people across England die because of the cold weather. It is therefore important to take steps to make sure you prepare for the winter and make plans to:

  • Keep warm

  • Stay healthy

  • Live well

This online information guide provides information, advice and contact details to support older people throughout the winter months.

"People are more likely to catch cold or flu in winter. The cold weather can also cause other serious health problems like heart attacks, stroke and pneumonia. This means it’s essential to stay warm in winter." (Keep Warm, Keep Well Campaign, NHS 2006)

Much of the information on the site can also be found in the free NHS winter guide for 2006 / 07 ‘Keep Warm, Keep Well’. You can download this guide and related materials by clicking on the link on the right under Useful Websites.
