Holloway School

Holloway School

Islington Council is proposing to redevelop Holloway School as part of Islington’s Schools for the Future initiative. This would involve partial demolition and partial refurbishment and rebuilding of the existing school.

Planning Guidance
We have adopted planning guidance for development control purposes for the school.
The purpose of the planning guidance is to:

  • identify opportunities and constraints for development

  • provide a clear indication of permissible development

  • give certainty to the school, developers and the community about development parameters and requirements.

We carried out public consultation on the draft planning guidance in November 2005. A report was presented to the North Area Committee on 9 January. The report summarised the content of planning guidance and outlined the methods of consultation, responses to consultation and the consequent amendments to the guidance. A copy of the report can be viewed by visiting the link under other options at the bottom of the page.

The Next Steps
The adopted planning guidance will be a material consideration in assessing any planning applications for this site. A planning application would be made following selection of a preferred development partner in 2007. Commencement of work on site would follow as soon as practical after the award of detailed planning consent, assuming this is granted. There would be further statutory consultation as part of the planning application process.
