Islington Council is working with the City of London and City University on redeveloping Islington Green School as an Academy School. The council also proposes the co-location of the secondary department of Richard Cloudesley School, a Special Education Needs School for children with severe physical disabilities.
Planning Guidance
The sponsors and the headteacher at Islington
Green School have indicated that if proposals for an Academy School were to
progress further, they would aim to replace or refurbish the existing
buildings to provide a good learning environment. We therefore drafted
planning guidance for the possible future redevelopment of Islington Green
School.
We undertook a period of public consultation on the draft planning guidance between 17 May and 14 June. In response to the comments that were received during consultation, a number of amendments were made to the guidance. We reported the results of the public consultation, and the recommended changes to the planning guidance, to the South Area Committee on 27 June. The Committee adopted the planning guidance for subject to amendments that were agreed at the meeting.
You can see a copy of the committee's report and the decision by clicking on the Planning Area Meeting link under Useful Websites, on the right-hand side of this page.
What will happen next?
Adoption of planning guidance is the
first stage in the planning process in respect of any future
development. Further reports would be required including a full planning
application, before any construction work or redevelopment could start. There
would be further statutory public consultation as part of any future planning
application.
