Islington has more than 127 parks, open spaces and playgrounds. Whether you want to go for a leisurely stroll, kick a football about, have fun with the kids or just watch the world go by, there are plenty of places to do it!
The largest park is Highbury Fields, a calm oasis of almost 30 acres, tucked away behind the exceedingly busy Highbury Corner. With beautiful walks, tennis courts and an award-winning children's playground, there should be something to please everyone at the borough's oldest park.
Some parks also have tennis and football facilities, which can be booked in advance by individuals and clubs.
For more details on some of Islington's bigger parks, click on the Park Locations link under the main navigation list on the left side of this page. To see where they are located in the borough, click on Interactive Maps under Do it online. Once open, select Recreation and Leisure then Parks and Open Spaces from the list on the right. You can then use the 'identify' tool to display details of each park.
Islington also has its own Ecology Centre and nature reserve at Gillespie Park, near Arsenal tube station. There, you can get back to nature and discover a wide variety of fantastic wildlife and flowers.
For more information, click on the Ecology Centre link on the right, under Related Information.
