Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the biggest contributor to climate change.
It’s why the Islington Climate Change Partnership has set a target to reduce Islington’s CO2 emissions by 55,000 tonnes by 2010. That is the equivalent of almost 6,000 return flights from London to Sydney.
Over 60 businesses have signed up, from Freightliners Farm to Arsenal, and committed to reducing their carbon emissions.
The Islington Climate Change Challenge is about the simple things that you can do to reduce your carbon emissions and save money, and the ways we can help you. Almost 500 people have now signed up to the challenge.
A big thank you - even the smallest actions can make a difference if everyone does them!
Did you know that you can save money and energy if you switch off your monitor while you are away from your computer for 20 minutes or more? Your monitor uses about two thirds of all the energy consumed by your computer, so switch it off when you can.
