Islington Cemetery is a traditional style with a mixture of old and new graves. It was established in 1854, the burial chapel was built in 1900 and is surrounded by lawns with flower beds and many mature specimen trees. The cemetery has a selection of gravesites, for both earthen burial and special graves for cremated remains.
Cemetery Opening Times:
Daily including Bank Holidays
Summer: 9am - 5pm
Winter: 9am - 4pm
Christmas Day: 10am to 2pm
Pedestrian turnstiles allowing access if the gates are closed are located at Coppetts Road Exit and the main entrance in the High Road.
Parking

There is ample space to park your car throughout the cemetery. We do advise that you lock all windows and doors whilst you are visiting your grave. All cars must leave the cemetery grounds by 5.00pm in Summer and 4.00pm in Winter.

Please note the cemetery is huge at 190 acres. We advise that you drive here. There is ample parking available.
By Car
We are adjacent to the A406 North Circular. Take the exit marked A1000 towards East Finchley. The main entrance is in the High Road N2 9AG.
Bus Routes
263 heading towards Barnet - get off at St Marys Church/Chandos Road
43 heading towards Friern Barnet - get off at North Circular A406
Underground
Northern Line (Barnet Branch) to East Finchley Station in the High Road. We are about a mile from the station. Turn left out of the station and take a 20/25 minute walk to the main gate. We do offer a minibus service that will drop you around the cemetery. This only runs on a Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 12noon and again from 1pm – 4pm, including Public Holidays.
