Recycling In the Kitchen

Recycling In the Kitchen

If you live in a street property, food waste is collected from your doorstep. This scheme turns your food waste into compost. Two containers are provided to residents receiving this service:

  • a small, green 5-litre kitchen caddie with an odour strip, which can be stored in your kitchen

  • a brown kerbside container with a self-locking lid

Food Waste – Scrape the Plate

Cooked and uncooked food can be recycled in your brown kerbside food container. Please leave your brown kerbside container with the handle upright as this locks the bin.

BioBags

Special BioBags made from corn starch are now available for purchase. These can be used to line your bin with. Please only use the recommended bags as these have been approved by our composting site. The bags will disintegrate if wet and left outside and so they must only be used with a bin.

A list of shops selling the corn starch bags is available to download at the bottom of this page.
